For the easily offended pup:

Sheldon has no tact whatsoever, but he's not really malicious. It's simply that he's a genius, and probably has some form of Asperger's - he only really has empathy that he's been taught, he's very bad at reading facial cues and he doesn't really understand why people get upset when he is unfailingly honest. Which isn't to say that people always understand, and forgive him - his friends get mad at him all the time. He's used to being called on things when he gets them wrong. So if your pup is likely to get upset at having their deficiences pointed out/their problems ignored then...tag or not as you see fit! Please keep in mind that Sheldon's views are not that of the mun.

For the fangeek in Sheldon/the physics genius bit:

I am not a physics genius. At all. So I'll do my best with what the show provides, and outside research but please take it as given that ALL MISTAKES ARE MINE. Sheldon does not get everything right when he's researching the unknown, but things all ready written, he knows. If you don't want tags to take an hour while I Google information, it might be better not to engage him in complex math that he could answer in a flash, but I don't understand even a little bit.

All that aside, this is probably the main point of this post - Sheldon is a sci-fi/comic book/fantasy geek. He also has an eidetic memory. He watches anime/films/TV shows, he plays video games and card games and World of short, he knows far more about your canon than I do. I will do my best! (He doesn't seem to read many books that are not for science, so I might be on safer ground there.) Please forgive OOC communications if I need to clarify something with you on things I haven't seen, but he will have.

Even more importantly - if anyone tags his EP from a canon he's familiar with, we may run into trouble. Obviously, someone's first entrance into the bar is weird as it is. If he gets tagged with, for example, someone from Star Trek, or Harry Potter, or one of the DC/Marvel crew, then his first instinct will to be all over the 'actor' - he won't know about canon puncturing, and he won't have a clue that what he's saying isn't 'done' - and until someone points out to him that canon-puncturing isn't 'done', he's likely to just blurt things out. So please keep that in mind if you feel like tagging! He'll be fairly dumbstruck at first anyway, so hopefully any mishaps can be headed off at the pass. And once someone tells him it's a social convention to keep his mouth shut about such thigns, he'll be fine. Obviously, pre-canon punctured pups would be fine, just drop me a note here to say it's OK for him to run his mouth.

And to end, then; please consider this the place to come for OOC communication, now or in the future. There are so many people Sheldon would love to meet - hopefully, when he's learned that these are the actual characters, and not their actors, then things will be fine. But at first, some caution should be exercised.

Thank you!

Given that Ray Stantz is already canon punctured for multiple versions of his canon, Sheldon is free to run his mouth off at him. If Ray can even get a word in edgewise, he'll do his best to give Sheldon the orientation- would that be okay with you?

So, uh, dilemma. Claudia would be happy to give Sheldon the rundown, as one geek to another, but... would he know Warehouse 13? Because she could handle being punctured, but she'd run home and tell everyone else, and they... couldn't so much handle it, so I'd rather she weren't. I guess the big thing is, if you're taking him from before '09 (when the show premiered), we're in good shape. Otherwise I'll wait a bit.

Mike's so canon punctured it's not even funny, so not to worry there.
The same goes for all of his canon mates too, I believe. So not to worry there.

Here's to hoping it's not Raph that gives Sheldon his Welcome Speech.

None whatsoever. Ray once wandered into the universe of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon during the episode where they were filming the Ghostbusters movie- the live action movie, despite being in a cartoon universe. He had a front row seat to the Radio City Music Hall premiere.

... no, seriously, there was a whole cartoon episode that centered around filming the movie. It was 'based on a true story' in the cartoon 'verse, though, rather than fiction.

Sadly both Mike and Raph are humans for the foreseeable future, but Splinter is a rat. I would kind of pay cash money to watch a Sheldon and Donatello thread, especially since he's the only brother currently shelled.

Wonder Woman also conveniently comes punctured/puncture-proof, so no worries there! I don't know if I can tag today, but for future reference!

Leela has not been canon punctured, but probably would have no idea what he's talking about and just dismiss him as some sort of madman. And/or possibly threaten to stab him.

("When in doubt, threaten to stab it" could be Leela's motto).

Thiiiiis might be interesting. Two out of three of my canons are not terribly well known but neither are they particularly obscure. I would love to jump on some Sheldon threading but I suppose the first thing to do would be to establish if he has played or is familiar with the Lunar series or the Mother/Earthbound series. Lunar has been remade so many times for so many game systems that it's possible he's encountered it. And Mother/Earthbound has been re-recognized in the U.S. thanks to Super Smash Bros. In any case, I'm a friggin' walking and talking Lunar encyclopedia and handy with Mother/Earthbound info.

On another and rather odd note, Mia is familiar with her husband Draco's canon, so Harry Potter series talk is a-ok with her.

Ooh, this could be fun, and Sheldon would surely recognize a character from the first all-computer-animated TV series... but perhaps I should wait before throwing an obvious nonhuman at him? From the look of the threads so far, it might kill him. ;-)

(As for canonpuncturing, it hasn't been done to Enzo yet, but he knows Ray Stantz, has known the Transformers, has watched Tron and lives in a world where it happened, etc. He would, in fact, probably be delighted.)

You already have tons of threads so this is more for future reference...when he meets Ben, feel free to have full reign with canon punctures. Ben's canon already has the comics within them and he's been to enough other worlds and universes, nothing will phase him

Seems like a Battlestar - Big Bang meeting would be inevitable!

I won't speak for the entire BSG crew here and now, but on a personal level I'm fine with any internal freaking out meeting Kara Thrace could lead to. Actual in-your-face canon-puncturing would be a different story because Kara may not respond well to the idea of her life being a work of fiction. So if Sheldon and Starbuck are going to meet it should probably happen when he's less likely to blurt out something about the show.

I'm totally okay with Sheldon canon-puncturing Nikola if you think he's likely to know Sanctuary. I know he watches SyFy, but I don't know how likely it is he'd have seen the show or seen an episode that actually had Nikola in it.

(And of course, Nikola is always okay with people knowing who he is from history.)

That totally works! Nikola isn't even in the webisodes, so even if he'd seen them he wouldn't have seen Nikola.

I've been thinking this over for a couple days now. While on a personal level I can roll with canon-puncturing, I don't know that it would be the best thing for Sam if it happened. For one thing, he's in from before his first canon appearance (although his appearance here is covered in some stuff that came out post-BSG being aired. Sheldon would probably know about The Plan even if you don't). BUT. I am trying to avoid having Sam get spoiled for the events of the series, and canon-puncturing him would be a really spectacular way of spoiling him not only for the events of the series, but also for everything else.

That all out here in the open, I am always willing to discuss things with you before (or during) a thread if you want to; I like to work through things organically as they come up. The other thing is this: if you are planning on working Sheldon through canon, you can always feel free to have him mistake Sam for David Underhill if you ever get to that part of Season Two. Or earlier, since Sheldon at least knows of Dr. Dave, or whatever you want!

Bottom line: I feel pretty much the same as Starbuck's player, that Sam wouldn't take kindly to being told he's fictional and having someone else know all about him, with the exception that in his world he was famous and people knew a lot about him. So I'm not much help, but talk to me if it comes to that. It will all be good and all be fun.

So, I'm just considering testing the waters with a Penny for MW (that would be this account that is obviously still a work in progress) but wanted to know if you'd be okay with me canon-mirroring you if I do drag her into the bar?

I'm strongly leaning towards first season characterization.

(Also, fun! Get tossed into a place that doesn't exist only to find Sheldon's gone pandimensional. Great...)

Okay, because this is about to become relevant:

Lois is already familiar with the idea of alternate universes, so probably the idea that one of those might have hers being fictional will only weird her out for a while. She will not entirely believe that she is in any way central to such a story.

Again: just hold off on details about how close she is to Superman, her relationship with Clark, and Clark/Kal-El/Superman identity stuff, and we're probably good. Oh, and I guess any actual details of Smallville canon. She has already been spoiled on the general-mythos-star-reporter thing, though.

Now then, Tavi. I dunno if Sheldon reads Jim Butcher, or if he'd've read Alera as well as Dresden, but I'd prefer Tavi not get canon-punctured, at least not until he's further into canon. For one, he'll do something rash; for another, he is paranoid sometimes.

I think that's about it!

So, Penny's app is going in today! Finally. Hah.

I'd still like to run timelines concurrent and possibly have shenanigans of their own so I suppose I need to know where you're at in canon and what sort of good times Sheldon's been up to. :)

Feel free to drop me a PM or email (afullmargin at gmail dot com) or hit me up on twitter or AIM what not. However works for you.
